A note on where we are

We are building this in public.

Leadership for Cities is in its inaugural year. The practice, the membership and the programme are being built alongside the people who join them, rather than announced fully formed.

How we are working

  • In the open

We put the work into the world early and learn from how people use it. That is a choice, not a shortcut: it is how a practice about cities ought to be made.

  • Led by what happens

What we publish, how often we gather and where all follow the conversations that take hold. The people in the room shape the next thing we make.

  • Made with care

We would rather get something right than announce it early. Details will evolve as the practice grows, and we build with that in mind.

What we hold to

  • Ideas about cities should travel widely. We keep The Commons open and readable.
  • The people who joined us early are the reason this exists, and we look after them.
  • When something meaningful changes, we write to members about it rather than let them find it on the website.
  • We speak plainly, in public, about the work and how it is going.

Tell us what is not working

Early feedback shapes this more than anything else we do.
